The Blog has swam into uncharted waters on the back of Saturday’s game and for one week only offers a reflection from the opposition supporters. Ant Dews was gracious enough to pen a few post match comments from a Swansea perspective. I must say that I’ve seen a number of equally gracious posts and vlogs from Swansea fans from over the weekend. Fair play to those boys, clearly the best supporters in Wales!

Make no bones about this the better side won!!! Swansea were very jaded and a shadow of the team that had played this season. Part of that I think was down to fatigue with a lot of our players being away on international duty, but in the most a lot of credit has to go to Forest for having a game plan that nullified Swansea’s main threats and never allowed us into the game.

Matt Grimes couldn’t find the killer pass, Bersant Celina looked off the pace and we had no threat up front and in fairness never looked like scoring. If we had been 2 – 0 down at half time we could, in truth, have had very little complaint Forest had hit the bar and always looked dangerous going forward, with the line being led excellently by Lewis Grabban.

Forest kept it compact in the middle of the park which meant Swansea couldn’t pass through them and credit to them for that, they had done their homework on how to stop us playing our game. They attacked with pace, which we struggle with, and got their just rewards towards the end of the game. It was a very well worked goal and one which was thoroughly deserved. Steve Cooper said after the game he felt Swansea deserved a point but I have to disagree with him on that and feel it would have been hard on forest if they hadn’t taken all 3 points. I also felt that maybe some of the players who had been on international duty maybe should have started from the bench (Bersant Celina being the obvious one who looked jaded after his exploits in midweek for Kosovo).

Forest are certainly the best side I have seen this season and look to have the ability to dig in, stick to a game plan and catch teams. On this form I think they will be a difficult team to stop and can definitely see them being there or thereabouts at the end of the season.

As for the Swans we move on to Bristol City away next weekend, and it will be interesting to see how our young side and inexperienced manager deal with this set back.

Ant has set the benchmark for opposing fans for the season with both pre match and post match input. Swansea may have lost on Saturday but they can take some solace that they’ve gone top of the much coveted Munich & Madrid table!
